Introducing the UC105i: EFI Precision with Drop-In Simplicity

The UC105i is a 105 HP electronic fuel injection (EFI) engine designed as a direct replacement for the Rotax 912 ULS. It preserves full mechanical compatibility — same mounts, orientation, and interface — while introducing digital control over combustion and fuel delivery.

Designed for ultralight and experimental airframes, UC105i delivers precise throttle response, high-altitude performance, and ethanol fuel capability — all in a package with dry weight 1 kg lighter than Rotax 912 ULS.

Performance: EFI Efficiency vs Carbureted Systems

The UC105i delivers 105 HP maximum and 98 HP continuous power, with electronic fuel injection continuously adjusting mixture and ignition based on real-time altitude, temperature, and throttle inputs. This enables stable performance up to 18,000 ft, with no pilot-managed leaning.

EFI ensures reliable starts in cold or hot weather, without choke or priming. Compared to legacy mechanical systems, the UC105i delivers consistent combustion and throttle response — reducing fuel burn, emissions, and cockpit workload.

When used with E85 aircraft fuel, the UC105i qualifies as an eco-friendly aircraft engine, offering up to 78% CO₂ reduction and eliminating lead emissions.

Operational Safety and Redundant EFI

The UC105i uses a single-ECU system with built-in fallback logic and redundant sensors and injectors. Critical engine functions are duplicated to ensure safe operation in case of a component fault — without requiring pilot input.

Key system elements:

  • Dual RPM sensors in parallel - 4 in total

  • Two injectors per cylinder (8 total)

  • One high-pressure electric fuel pump + 1 backup

  • One mechanical low-pressure pump (Rotax OEM)

  • Built-in failover modes for injection, ignition, and fuel pressure

If a sensor or pump fails, the ECU automatically switches to backup maps and hardware. A dedicated EFIS display provides diagnostics and live alerts.

Fuel Compatibility and Flex Operation

The UC105i supports FlexFuel operation with automatic fuel blend recognition — no switches, no manual programming.

  • SP95, SP98, SP95-E10, UL91

  • Avgas 100LL

  • E85, E100 bioethanol

E85 is widely available in France at ~€0.80/l. The system automatically adjusts injection and ignition timing, making the UC105i both cost-efficient and emissions-conscious — with up to 78% less CO2 and  90% fewer fine particles compared to leaded fuel.
